Chicken with Banana Flower

Experience the unique blend of tender chicken and aromatic banana flower, infused with a rich medley of spices and creamy texture, in this delightful Banana Flower Chicken Curry.

 

Ingredients

  1. Chicken: 500 grams

  2. Red Chilli Powder/Kashmiri Mirch: 1 tbsp

  3. Salt: 3 tsp

  4. Ginger Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp

  5. Banana Flower: 1

  6. Cardamom: 7-8

  7. Cloves: 5-6

  8. Star Anise: 2

  9. Cinnamon: 4-5 small pieces

  10. Black Pepper (Whole): 10-12

  11. Green Chillies (Sliced): 2

  12. Mustard Oil: As preferred

  13. Onions (Chopped): 1 large

  14. Bay Leaves: 1-2

  15. Cooking Oil: As preferred

  16. Turmeric Powder: 2 tsp

  17. Cumin Powder: 1 tbsp

  18. Coriander Powder: 1.5 tbsp

  19. Chicken Curry Masala: 1 tbsp

  20. Cream: 1/2 cup

  21. Sugar (Optional): 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken:

    • In a bowl, combine chicken with salt, red chilli powder, and ginger garlic paste.

    • Marinate for 20-30 minutes.

  2. Prepare Banana Flower:

    • Chop and soak in saltwater for 15 minutes.

    • Strain water.

  3. Make Spice Paste:

    • Grind cardamom, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, star anise with water into a paste.

  4. Cook Chicken:

    • Heat mustard oil in a pan.

    • Fry chopped onions and bay leaves.

    • Add marinated chicken and cook until almost done.

  5. Prepare Banana Flower Mixture:

    • In another pan, heat cooking oil.

    • Add green chillies and banana flower. Stir.

    • Season with salt and turmeric. Stir-fry briefly.

  6. Combine Ingredients:

    • To the chicken, add the banana flower mixture, cumin powder, coriander powder, chicken curry masala, and spice paste.

    • Cook for 2-3 minutes.

  7. Final Cooking:

    • Add sugar (optional), water for gravy, cream, and ghee/butter.

    • Cook for 5 minutes on medium heat, then 5 minutes on low heat.
